Maldives Dhoni Sailing Trip

Sail through the Maldives aboard a traditional dhoni, spending eight days between Male, the lagoons of Vaavu Atoll and several small islands in the south-central part of the archipelago. Days are shaped by time on the water, with swims and snorkelling stops among coral, reef fish and calm lagoon waters. Along the way, visit local islands for tea and snacks, join a village walk in Fulidhoo, and watch a traditional music and dance performance after dinner on the beach. You will also see how Maldivian cooking is prepared during a breakfast demonstration on Guraidhoo. A local crew and group leader travel with you throughout the trip. This trip takes place on a traditional wooden motor-sailing boat. Cabins are on the lower deck, have twin bunk beds and ensuite bathrooms, and the space is compact. The boat may be noisy while under way or at anchor, so light sleepers may want to bring earplugs. Good swimming ability is important, and it is worth packing sun protection, a hat and sea-sickness medication.
