Japan Essentials: Tokyo, Kyoto & Osaka
Travel across Japan in a small group from Tokyo to Osaka, with time in Hakone, Kyoto and Arashiyama along the way. The route combines city sights, temple visits, mountain scenery and rail travel, with a guide to help you make sense of each stop. In Tokyo, spend time in Asakusa, Harajuku, Yoyogi Park, Akihabara, Shinjuku and Shibuya. Then continue to Hakone for views of Mount Fuji, before heading by rail to Kyoto for Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, Gion, the Golden Pavilion and Daitoku-ji. The trip finishes in Osaka with a food-focused evening and time in Dotonbori. The tour includes hostel and guesthouse stays, several breakfasts and dinners, and transport between cities, including the bullet train. Optional activities such as a sushi-making class, a tea ceremony, a samurai museum visit and a boat ride are available at extra cost and need to be booked in advance.

Start with a briefing on basic customs and useful phrases, then head to Harajuku, Yoyogi Park and Meiji Shrine. Continue to Akihabara for time among its arcades, shops and neon-lit streets. - 3

Free time and evening in Shinjuku and Shibuya
Spend the first part of the day at your own pace, with optional activities available if booked in advance. In the evening, travel to Shinjuku for city views and Omoide Yokocho, then continue to Shibuya Crossing.
